General News

8.3 Released!

Content update 8.3 has been released across the EU, RU and US servers. Changes and additions include:

  • A huge but temporary SPG rebalance. SPG's will be stretched out to Tier X, but in the mean time Artillery has been reworked to be more vulnerable in battle.
  • Plenty of fixes to tank models
  • The Chinese have been added.

More information is available for EU players here, and US players here.

8.4 News

Sadly there is none, other than it's slated for March. Rumour has it that it will contain the British Tank Destroyer tree, featuring the real 215B as the Tier X.

ASAP 8

SerB is back in ASAP 8, where he details Wargaming's long term goals for SPGs. Interesting stuff if you've been wondering what the hell is going on with SPGs and the matchmaker as of late.

RU Forum Q & A with SerB and Storm

What exactly have SerB and Storm been saying on the Russian forums? Here's a summary of what's been said in the last week; expect plenty of dry humour and humiliation for anyone that crosses their paths. Once again, thank you to SilentStalker for the use of his translations.

  • A new tutorial is planned but only for new players.
  • Average lifespan of a vehicle in WoT battles is 5 minutes.
  • WoT for tablets? SerB wrote several hundred words on this which amounted to "No comment".
  • Devs already have an idea what there will be in the British artillery branch - Churchill AVRE won't make it though, its gun elevation is not high enough.
  • Additional tank armor screens are planned by aren't easy to implement so could be a while.
  • Only 1-2 percent of players visit (Russian) forums, it's not planned to implement "hints" into the game, pointing to the forums.
  • The mantlets of the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 series tanks act in the game like spaced armor.
  • Light tank cap in the MM won't work based on tier only, but based on their MM weight.
  • The arty hardcap is temporary and will be removed "when it's not needed anymore".
  • Buffing or nerfing tanks does not depend on anything else, like f.x. introduction of new maps, it's completely separate.
  • Chat-banned players won't be able to issue commands in game so no change there.
  • It's not planned to allow deleting the WoT accounts, but the devs are thinking about how to solve the situation when an unused account is "blocking" a desired nickname.
  • Only those medals are rewarded retroactively, for which the data can be found easily from available sources.
  • In the past, the platoons had a bigger balance weight, they don't anymore.
  • It's not planned to turn the thin plates of the M10 Panther into the spaced armor.
  • Tanks aren't balanced only based on their guns, but at a complex of characteristics.
  • The developers consider the situation, where an ally destroys your gun (a crit), you spend 3k repair kit fixing it and in the end you get 60 silver compensation (hardly any damage was done) as normal
  • The fact top TD's have lower view range than top meds and heavies is okay with the devs
  • KV-5 armor wasn't buffed for "a lot of reasons"
  • According to the devs, the "Serene coast" map didn't become the new Swamp/Komarin, it won't become a low tier map.
  • Low Tier Premium tanks that cost more gold but earn more credits are not deemed necessary.
  • It's not planned to remove the penalties for very small hits by allies.
  • It's possible there will be new perks and skills for crews.
  • There is no plan to put the "planned" 700hp engine to the VK2801.
  • There will be a self-propelled gun based on the KV hull introduced into the game.
  • T-60-2 most likely will be introduced.
  • The gun elevation and depression of the new German medium branch will be similar to the other German branch. SerB's response here is possibly trolling the player who asked the question.
  • The gun depression and elevation of the Leopard tank, which is-9,+20 will be implemented "only if this turns out to be historical".
  • It will be possible to equip the Leopard with a gun stabilizer.
  • SerB states that it's not possible to implement an option where you "freeze" your account for a given time however, you can write a support ticket, they might be able to help you.
  • SerB states there will be no incomplete branches, every branch will end with a Tier X tank.
  • The parameters of the Assault game mode won't be changed in near future.
  • According to Storm, whether the vehicles are historical or not has the same priority as the other parameters for new vehicles.
  • The IS-3 turret size is a bit smaller than it should be, it'll be fixed. The ST1 is currently correct.
  • "Battles without arty" mode is not planned.
  • A mode where you directly select the map you want to play in random is not planned.
  • It is not planned to have the test server accounts with all the tanks in the garage and equipment on them, for "some technical reasons".
  • No night maps in 2013.
  • No rocket tanks in 2013.
  • SerB gets occasionally recognized on the streets.
  • No plans to remove the small time gap between the last tank destroyed/battle capped and return to the hangar.
  • SerB states that players with low winrate and high amount of battles played aren't necesserily bots or afkers,  "some of them simply play bad".
  • SerB notes that (related to the mobility of the Type 59), it wasn't generally changed.
  • Q: "Is there an automatic system tracking illegal mods?" A: "No comment".
  • 2D hitskins are allowed, because "a normal player knows where to shoot and they won't help a noob anyway".
  • SerB states that the amount of platoons overall has increased.
  • The arty hardcap will "most likely" be removed after 0.8.3. SerB further states: "It's going to be removed after the battle balances are returned to normal".
  • SerB has candidates for high tier multiturret vehicles.
  • The weight of the E-50 turret was calculated according to the data from Jentz and Doyle.
  • The combined optics equipment works always, not only when the vehicle is moving.
  • The amount of arty won't be capped in companies and clanwars.
  • Free camera in postmortem mode is not planned.
  • Garage battles won't have special bigger maps.
  • Historical battles won't have special "historical" maps available only for that mode.
  • No questions about the ingame complaint system will be answered, as devs don't want players to develop algorithms to circumvent it.
  • The devs have the idea that the maps might appear in different seasonal versions.
  • An introduction of a branch of vehicles almost always influences the winrate of other tanks a little, but not much.
  • It's not planned to introduce an option where you can't shoot your teammates.
  • It's not planned to introduce hangar options/upgrades that reduce the repair costs of a vehicle.
  • The time gap between the base capture and transition to hangar does not depend on the server load, according to the devs this gap is not a good thing.
  • The most used camo is the summer one, as the summer maps are the most numerous.
  • When shooting the mantlet of the gun, most of the "non-penetration" hits are caused by hitting the barrel. Mantlets are penetrated - correctly according to the game mechanics.
  • The rumor that the games life span is 5 years is false. SerB ended up going into full ragemode: "there has to be a brain in the head - without it the thinking doesn't work and from that comes the spamming, whine and crap".
  • Question: "Will KV-5 get a new gun?" Answer from SerB: "Will you bring up here all the retarded rumors, or only half of them?".
  • There are various reasons for the D-25 gun not penetrating the T49 mantlet - impact under high angle, hitting the gun itself etc.
  • Fun fact: tracks can absorb (the way SerB calculated it) up to 18 thousand HP per battle.
  • According to devs, antialiasing works normal atm.
  • There might be a better render of metal glints and reflections "if needed/possible".
  • It's possible new camouflage patterns will be added.
  • Currently, the arty view size (scale) does not correspond to the scale shown on the minimap, will be fixed.
  • The French have enough vehicles for two more lines (med and heavy), but those are not ready yet, more details when SerB decides what goes where.
  • "Historical battles" have, according to SerB one problem: in theory everyone wants them but in reality, no one will play them.
  • SerB states that the trees released on WoT Wiki are not up to date.
  • It is possible not to penetrate external modules.
  • The mods have a rough idea of how many people are using mods, but they won't comment on how they got them.
  • There is no official statement on gold ammo for credits yet, but most likely it will stay.
  • The arty and tank shells have the same penetration model, they also lose penetration with distance.
  • French T7-8 medium premium tank? "no comment".
  • There is no plan to show the trajectory angles of shells.
  • The next premium tier 8 medium tank will belong to the "nation that needs it" and it will be similiar to the Type 59 prototype.
  • There will be further graphics optimization.
  • The devs are satisfied with the 2X XP for the first win of the day.
  • The Chinese tier 6-8 light tanks have the same MM as their French light counterparts.
  • The rising number of artillery does influence the future map design.
  • It's not planned to reward the tank that did the most damage to the enemy.
  • There are no incendiary shells in the game "because the devs didn't implement them".
  • Rough history of the "121" tank - an attempt to create a worthy opponent for the T-62 with the limited resources available, there might even be a book on these Chinese projects.
  • There are no plans to create a separate "superheavy" class of tanks. It was considered but rejected.
  • The work on the new MM is underway.
  • Devs don't think that the Dragon's ridge player experience is bad.
  • New maps are being developed.
  • Tier 11 is not being planned.
  • The IS5 won't get an armor buff.
  • Clan functions are being worked on, no more details.
  • The Russian and Chinese versions of IS-2 were roughly equal.
  • Karelia is the oldest map, then came Malinovka and Himmelsdorf.
  • The game mechanics work absolutely the same in all the modes.
  • Stock tanks do NOT have a better MM than fully equipped tanks. It was tried but didn't work.
  • There is no gun in the game, that could reliably penetrate the Super Pershing through its thickest armor (the frontal armor screens), you have to aim for the weakspots.
  • Japanese tanks are going to be unique.
  • Japanese branch will have no King Tiger equivalent.
  • Even though Mr. Hilary Doyle states that the lower mobility of the German vehicles is a myth, the devs state that he's only one of the experts and that their lower mobility is noted in various other sources, according to Wargaming their own expert (Jurij Pasholok) was one of those people who actually live tested a Panther in Kubinka, so he has first hand experience. SerB states that it's not possible the Kubinka Panther was broken.
  • Doyle notes that the name of the engine intended for the VK3002DB is MB507 - in the game, however, the Maus engine has the same designation. This is not going to be changed.
  • KV-1, T-34 and Panther turret rotating speeds won't be changed.
  • Doyle states that the weight of the Schmalturm is actually less than the weight of the "regular" Panther turret. According to the devs, this is not true, as the geometric calculations suggest otherwise.
  • When balancing the artillery, taking only winrate into account isn't enough, as it is balanced separately.
  • The devs state that the IS-7 gun has such a long aim time, because it is long and heavy.
  • The reasons GW Tiger and GW E had their mobility reduced lies in balancing, the devs don't think they overdid the mobility nerf too much
  • The devs won't disclose any info regarding to the technical aspects of the game programming.
  • There will be a second french tier 10 heavy tank, it's supposed to have very thick frontal armor, but the sides and rear armor will be weak, the second French heavy branch won't have autoloaders, not decided where it will start though.
  • Shots to external modules (that don't generally count in the post-battle debriefing) do count when calculating the "sentinel" medal.
  • There will be a feature showing the quality of the player directly in game.
  • Approximately 20 percent of players removed the "assault mode" from their games via the settings.
  • What do the Chinese inscriptions mean on their tanks? Response is: "Use Google".
  • So far, no other than "historical" inscriptions on tanks are planned.
  • Clanwars mercenaries in their current form were cancelled.
  • There will be an option of playing CW's without joining any clan though, the devs are working on it.
  • Devs don't think that the Chinese IS is overpowered even though it has 300mm gold pen shells, because its mobility is worse than its Soviet counterpart.
  • The only Soviet tanks with autoloaders are the T-64, T-72 and T-80, they won't appear in the game.
  • The devs don't consider the Marder II overnerfed.
  • Comment from SilentStalker - One player posted 9 whine/bullshit questions in a row, got 9x14day (126 days total) read only bans.
  • Regarding the turrets flying off: the devs are not sure yet how they will do it, if the turret wreck will be a material object and others will be able to see it and crash into it, it's not done with Havok anymore, it requires server resources. The devs prefer the ripped-off turret to be material, but aren't sure if that's gonna work.
  • The effect of tracks flying off is purely cosmetic, so that can be done client-side.
  • The winrate differences between servers are only very small.
  • After 0.8.3, average damage done by artillery is expected to drop by 15 percent, mostly because of the close range fighting.
  • The "live" tank (who shows as live, but counts as destroyed because the crew is dead) is not considered a bug, won't be "fixed"
  • According to SerB, it's pointless to file reports against an arty that shoots an enemy tank that is hugging your tank, kills it but damages you in the process - It's "part of the fight".
  • According to SerB, the artillery mobility nerfs won't affect good artillery players, because a good artillery player doesn't troll around in TD mode, quite the opposite.
  • There is apparently a plan to merge the Clanwars into one huge superserver where US, EU and RU clans will be fighting each other, the devs don't consider it a problem there might be a national rivalry, but - they won't implement this into random battles, where it would be a problem.
  • The new perks might be in 2013, not sure how many. Radioman skills and perks won't be reworked; SerB: "if you don't like them, don't train them".
  • The camo check interval will shorten, it depends on the servers resources.
  • There are plans to change the shell system i.e. new types - no more details.
  • There are studies being conducted on the AT-15A prototype regarding its characteristics.
  • According to the devs, E50M is not completely fictional, it's fully within the spirit of the late war German designs, there is no suitable tank of its tier to replace it, the design was consulted with experts (Doyle, Jentz), it wasn't even possible to push the medium German branch up one tier (the German vehicles simply weren't that good). The vehicle isn't completely fictional, as it represents post-war development direction (French-German cooperation). Its gun is not completely fictional either, as there were plans for such a gun but the data didn't survive the war, so the devs used the L7 as analogy.
  • The ingame ST-I suspension is almost identical to the one of IS-4.
  • In 0.8.0, camo coefficients for tanks were changed to fit the new render, but the equation itself wasn't.
  • The US SPG's M52, M53, M55, M109, US Medium T42, Russian Object 103 and German VK3002DB Ausf. B in the game? SerB: "no comment".
  • FCM36 Pak40 and B2 LeFH105 premium arty are French because the German branch had enough premium vehicles of its own, B2: it's not planned to be made German.
  • The regular AP and subcaliber AP penetration decals are the same.
  • The 30 second battle countdown starts approximately when 2/3 of the team are present.
  • The time gap between the point of base capture and return to hangar is 5 seconds. If in those 5 seconds a tank is destroyed (regardless of which team), the 5 second timer resets, so if the tanks are killed left and right during that period, it can reach a rather long time (even a teamkill can reset the counter).
  • An HE arty shell that penetrates a tank hull and explodes within has the splash of 0, it hasn't been decided whether this will get changed.
  • No plans for other gold shells for the Tier 9 Patton.
  • No plans for radical change of TD gameplay.
  • No plans to improve the Superpershing turret rotation speed.
  • SerB: technically there are enough vehicles for 5 German TD branches.
  • Theoretically second branches of arty are possible, but there will most likely be none.
  • A huge change for 2013 is planned. SerB: "I'll let you know when I'm ready".
  • There is a rule that an arty cannot kill more than half of the crew in one shot.
  • Devs think that the current sound quality is quite okay, it'll improve though.
  • Storm prefers AT-15A to SU-122-44 because he doesn't like the aiming time and the accuracy and spread of the Soviet tank.
  • The devs state that rather than developing the system where the tanks are covered in mud when they pass it, they'd prefer to work on the game optimization.
  • SerB: "We won't guarantee that the E50M will remain to be the tank with the most accurate gun around."
  • The idea that there will be two types of game clients: one for weak computers and one for strong ones has been scrapped, "for technical reasons".
  • It's not out of the questions that there will be more tier 10 vehicles (of all classes) with unlockable modules, but SerB states it's not planned specifically.
  • No plans to reduce the XP requirements for skill and perk training.
  • No plans to move the game to another engine.
  • According to SerB, 3 SPG's per team is an optimal average number, when the number drops to that, there will be no more nerfs needed.
  • Swiss Panzer 58 and Panzer 61 both fit into WoT timeframe, but SerB won't comment on their implementation to the EU tree.
  • 2013 E25 confirmed.
  • IS-7 and IS-4 have the similiar fuel tanks layout.
  • SU-101 winrate is fine according to devs.
  • When vehicles of the same tier have 3-4 percent winrate difference, it's a reason to rebalance.
  • Storm doesn't consider the scout flood a MM issue, we can expect to see 10xScout + 5xArty teams further.
  • Standard render will most likely not be further developed.
  • Christie tanks rolling around on wheels 100 km/h? "No".
  • SerB states that the child protection is the duty of the parents.
  • Crusader is not designated as a top tier scout.
  • There is no automatic punishment system for insults (in contrast to team damage and team kills) because insults don't directly influence the game.
  • Lower frontal armor of E-100 won't be changed.
  • Multithreading (real multicore support) - "only if there is middleware that can do that available for the render system we use".
  • Regarding the fact that the British don't have a high tier scout: "complete symmetry of branches was never intended".
  • Regarding Mr. Doyle's opinions and research, they were taken into account when considering German tanks, but real tests proved more important.
  • The ST-I model in game is historical, it is based on the original drawings from the archives.
  • SerB answering to a whiner, who asked: "When will you stop adding new tanks and focus on quality instead?". SerB replied: "We won't. We are very sorry that this fact upsets you".
  • The chance of transmission catching on fire is the same as with the engine.
  • The angles and sizes of IS-4 hull and armor will be re-checked by Storm.
  • Devs state that the whine about 0 damage hits comes from basic misunderstanding on the player side as to how the game system works.
  • Question from a player: "Will the Leopard 1 have the Rheinmetall 120mm gun?" Answer by SerB: "Why don't we just make it with a gauss gun?".
  • The profitability of the SU-122-44 is considered okay.
  • The AT-15A MM spread is considered okay.
  • It's "possible" that there will be premium vehicles in 0.8.4 like the SU100 Y.
  • T57 Heavy stats don't stand out too much according to SerB.
  • Regarding the "historically inaccurate horsepower" of the M12 engine: "We'll use the resources we think are right".
  • SerB personally hates Nazis and Nazi-lovers and bans them.
  • Dynamic elements in the maps are not guaranteed.
  • An updater for the test client is not planned. SerB says its a waste of time.
  • Serene coast is doing statistically fine
  • SerB thinks that teamkilling penalties on testserver are handled independently from main account, but he isn't sure
  • Module crits and caused engine fires do not count towards teamkilling damage.
  • Devs take info about the tanks from books and archive copies, SerB states that if he stacked the copies of the archive files on top of each other, the height would exceed 8 meters.
  • Nations, which will have tanks implemented into the game: "Finland, Poland, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Yugoslavia". These won't be full trees but part of a European Tree.
  • The rumors about some regular tanks being transferred to premium status are false.
  • The devs don't see the fact that Panzer B2 cant penetrate the Matilda as that much of a problem. SerB's response: "don't play with it".
  • Question at SerB: "Are you the right hand of Viktor Kisliy?" Answer: "Viktor has many right hands"
  • ROF is a balance value, it won't be changed to historical values with some tanks.
  • The reason why the originally planned German medium branch got changed to the way Storm presented it two weeks ago was "internal decision"
  • The game will be developed within technical limits, high-end laptops should be able to run it on medium details at least.
  • Leopard 2 is not planned as a tier 10 heavy.
  • There are no plans to change the shell mechanism into something more historical: "Whiners would whine anyway and the server load would be much bigger".
  • SerB states that everything is fine with API.
  • Currently the work on new maps is stopped until the old ones are re-worked to the new renderer, but roughly 10 new maps are in various states of completion.
  • Maps from South and Central America: "Mexico" and "Savannah" are being planned, no exact number available on how many maps will come in 2013.
  • It is not planned to raise the compensation for SPG HP loss by teamkills.
  • It's not yet determined where in the German tree will the Durchbruchwagen go.
  • SerB states that the VK2001 to be implemented.
  • SerB states there is even a Leopard prototype from Arbeitsgruppe C, but that's "Not for the weak".
  • It's not clear yet whether the DW will be DW1 or DW2 or combination of both or whether it will really be designated as a heavy tank
  • Question: "Since you ban nazi-named clans, will you ban homosexual-named clans too? After all children play the game" Answer from Serb: "A necrozoopedophile came visiting, tiny dead animals he brought with him". Apparently that did rhyme in Russian and the devs will only ban players that have illegal names.
  • 105mm L/100 gun - The devs tried to implement such a weapon, looked horrible, was scrapped.
  • D-25 won't have its accuracy buffed. Devs state that its real-life accuracy was comparable to the German 88 L/71 and if they implemented it as such, everyone would be playing Russian tanks only
  • Devs don't think it's wrong that tanks from different eras fight each other.
  • SerB states that if the amount of SPG's per battle doesn't drop after the introduction of tier 10 arty, more nerfs will come.
  • There is a possibility smokescreens will eventually make it into the game, but so far it's just an idea.
  • If you meet SerB in battle and start shooting him (teamkill) or insult, he WILL ban you. And report you.
  • For now, normalisation won't be reduced
  • You get more XP when you survive the battle, that applies even if you teamkill.
  • Devs are happy with the balancing and the amount of Lowe tanks.
  • New tanks are better modelled than the old ones were.
  • The nasty spot at Live Oaks (I0 sector) that looks like shallow water on the minimap yet you will drown your tank there will be reworked.
  • Jagdpanzer E100 armor statistics won't change.
  • IS6's armor is completely historical, Wikipedia has it wrong apparently.
  • There are some vague plans to improve the quality of models.
  • Future graphics optimizations are planned.
  • It's not planned to make crew not "heat-resistant" when the tank burns because it would cripple it too much.
  • Steel wall: hits from allies don't count.
  • An autoloader does not a special collision module, it falls under the ammo rack.
  • The smoke and dust effects won't have a separate on/off switch.
  • The fact tanks sometimes "drop" to the ground from small height after the battle countdown stops is because the tracks get aligned to the land like that by the game engine.
  • Improved ventilation, BIA etc. do not directly affect gun accuracy, only via the crew skill.
  • Type 62 won't get its old hull back.
  • It's possible other nations will have rotating turret TD's, not only Americans.
  • Question: "What's wrong with English tanks? They get tracked all the time!" Answer: "Don't play tanks that have tracks".
  • No alternative gun for IS-7 planned
  • Player: "You will stop trolling when there is a serious competition for you around!" SerB: "Yes, yes, gaming industry is completely empty. A real desert!"
  • When your armor gets penetrated by a HE shell, the center of splash is localised on the inner side of the penetrated armor.
  • XVM is not banned because "devs don't consider the mod dangerous".
  • Devs don't consider writing guides to underperforming tanks a viable substitution to buffs.
  • If you have the graphics card working at 100 percent in hangar, it's a bug. Try refreshing drivers, Flash and contact support.
  • There might be bending antennas introduced when client physics (Havok) are implemented.
  • SerB grinds money on pretty much every lower Tier Premium tank, but he doesn't use the T1E6.
  • Tier 6 premium arty? Not anytime soon.
  • It's not clear yet whether the Leopard will have the German cross like other tanks, or the Bundeswehr insignia.
  • The GW-E weight is correct and won't change.
  • "Captured" tanks (Russian Panther, German T-34) will be ready "When it's done it's done.".
  • SuperSherman might be implemented, no guarantee however.
  • M41 light tank and T92 light tank might be implemented.
  • European server is a single server. For now..
  • "Gold Type 59"-style tanks are not planned for other servers, it is considered Chinese server-exclusive.
  • Conqueror turret is considered to be armored adequatly for tier 9.
  • T-54 gold penetration (350) for both top guns will not be reduced.
  • Caernarvon's antenna is purely decorative and not related to the detection mechanics.
  • If you are the last tank alive on your team and capture the enemy base and are destroyed in the 5 seconds between capture and return to the hangar, it will count as an enemy victory.
  • Regarding the Porsche diesel electric vehicles, it is not planned to allow them to go backwards the same speed as they go forward.
  • There will be a new Soviet light tank branch of tanks constructed by N.I.Astrov implemented, possibly in next few months. Tt's not clear whether it will end without merging some other branch (unfinished branch) or not.
  • Regarding the Porsche Tiger's alleged 100mm frontal armor thickness: a player writes that it is well known that the Porsche Tiger had the frontal armor only 100mm thick and after its refit into the Ferdinand tank destroyer, they additionally welded another 100mm plate to the frontal armor. However, Porsche Tiger in its tank form only had 100mm frontal armor - SerB replies that "since there was only one Porsche Tiger, you might say that 100 percent of Porsche Tigers, that ever really fought in the war, had the frontal armor 200mm thick".
  • The repair time of tracks is obviously not realistic, it was balanced to reduce player annoyment, same goes for other module repair times.
  • The AMX 13's don't have a stabilizer due to the oscillating turret.
  • SerB drove only a BMP in real life, not a tank.
  • Regarding lags on the RU server, the devs state that the majority of lag comes from the server-client communication, not from "overloaded" servers.
  • Regarding the SPG moving to tier 10: "A tier 7 SPG might move to Tier 9, or to Tier 8, depending on the branch.".
  • Object 140 as tier 10 alternative Soviet medium tank? "No comment on future development.".
  • There will possibly be a tier 8 German light tank. SerB makes no reference whether is will be the Aufklärungspanther.
  • In 0.8.3 the arty splash nerf info is missing as the notes would get too long
  • The reason no permanent "medal = extra credits or XP" principle is implemented is that there would be retards who'd shoot or inconvenience or annoy their own teammates so they could get medals.
  • Other nations won't most likely get later/post-war camos, only Chinese do.
  • It's possible some very special camos (that were only made on one vehicle) will be implemented.
  • M46 Patton won't be replaced by M47
  • Soviet T8 premium medium could be one of the T-54 predecessors, but that is only one of the options.
  • No plans so far to change/buff the T-62A.
  • It's possible some Japanese vehicles will have autoloaders.
  • The perk distribution (how many people use what perks) is roughly what developers expected.
  • Weather effects may happen at some point but they're technically difficult.
  • Asian maps will come after all the originals are reworked.
  • This vehicle is something different than the ingame GW Type E.
  • SerB states that defragmenting the disk every 3-4 months helps making WoT run better.
  • It's possible that in the future, more low-caliber but high ROF British guns will be introduced, but SerB states those weapons were quite unique.
  • VK4502P now has a new frontal armor weakspot: The bow machinegun.
  • If the server resets when you are in the middle of a battle and you drop out of battle to the menu instead of garage, the results of the battle do not count.
  • T32 won't recieve a more powerful gun.
  • There is no plan to make the MM loading screen stay on for some minimal time so you can cancel the battle.
  • Changing the XP gained from Scouting is not being considered.
  • The WZ-132 engines (second engine: cost 10500XP, but the only difference is 10kg of weight) are not bugged, it's intentional.
  • Same goes with the WZ-120 engine.
  • The 113, 120, 121, WZ 131/132 tanks have the same internal layout as the T-54, eg. the ammo rack is at the back of the tower and behind the frontal armor on the right side, the fuel tanks are also there.
  • Announcements about tanks splits and transfers had strong impact on the amount of those vehicles (both in hangars and in games).
  • The aforementioned is not expected to happen with the artillery being transferred to tier 10, as the arty won't improve.
  • Meeting engagement shouldn't be enabled for tier 1-2 vehicles, seems like this bug appeared in 0.8.3 - Storm will investigate tomorrow.
  • 120mm M62-T2 and M58 guns have the same primary (silver) penetration and different gold penetration "due to different shells".
  • No plans to enhance the flightpath of the projectile in sniper mode.
  • T110E3 and E4 recieved the 155mm guns straight away because (unlike the mediums) there are no tier 10 TD's in the game with unlockable guns.
  • The Chinese top tanks' names consist of numbers only because "Chinese comrades said it's that way and they know about the Chinese tanks more than anyone else".
  • Tank guns aren't balanced only around gun penetration, but also around other characteristics.
  • Object 268 and Object 704 won't get a damage nerf.
  • Chi-Ha is implemented as a light tank even though "Chi" in Japanese is the designation for medium tanks, because it is generally classified as a light tank.
  • The idea to make World of Tanks came in the last days of 2008, the original "founders" were Petr Bityukov, Slava Makarov, Viktor Kisly and Marat Karpeko and it took a few months to bring the idea to alpha stage.
  • The equation for repair costs: (HP lost * repair cost for 1 HP) + (module HP lost * repair cost for 1 module HP).
  • There is no special autoloader module, it counts as a part of the ammo rack module.
  • The speed reduction when driving close to rocks, slopes and other objects is realistic and won't be removed.
  • Reworking the "expert" archievement? "No comment for now".
  • The shot trajectory calculations are the same in sniper mode and arcade mode, even though the arcade mode seems to "jerk" less when driving over rough terrain; it's the same, just that in the sniper mode it's simply more noticeable. Also the devs state that the gun aim circle spread after shooting in sniper mode is not bigger than after shooting in arcade mode, just more noticeable.
  • SerB doesn't care about the caricatures of him on the forums.
  • When a tank is destroyed, it does not mean all modules get destroyed and counted within the repair costs, they only appear so the players don't get confused.
  • Module repair costs are not tied to the module purchase price.
  • Barrels of AFK tanks move when you move close in front of them, because the aiming point automatically changes.
  • Tracers weren't changed in 0.8.3.
  • Currently, a drowned tank gets all modules destroyed in order to deter the drowners.
  • Panzer B2 has the tier 4 MM max and S35 tier 3-5 out of "balance reasons".
  • There will be a special MM for light tanks too.
  • There is no "ricochetability" (description) parameter planned.
  • The Chinese Type 34 is historical and correctly balanced.
  • The American R-975-C1 350hp engine will be rebalanced to match the Chinese one from the M5A1 stuart (400hp instead of 350hp, but 16kg more), the whole US M5 Stuart will be rebalanced.
  • Capture points from capping the base apparently count towards the cappers' XP even though the battle is won by destroying all tanks.
  • The Foch 155 autoloader is realistic. SerB states that it was made even for the British FV4005's 183mm gun.
  • M10 Ersatz has German camo for "technical reasons".
  • The removal of the maps from the random pool as a choice for players is really complicated, no decision yet.
  • The 3 degrees gun depression for Chinese tier 9 and 10 meds is final for now.
  • Tt's possible Lend/Lease tanks will take part in historical battles.
  • The components of various Stuarts might be a bit modified in order to differentiate them.
  • The modules with the same names in Chinese and other nations' tanks differ in properties because they were "produced differently", there are no plans to make Chinese modules compatible with other nations' modules "for technical reasons".
  • The devs don't see the existence of the bug where the graphics card runs at 100 percent in the hangar.
  • Info about 0.8.4 will be "soon".
  • There are no plans for new equipment.
  • Some new company formats are not planned.
